Assigning tickets & changing status
Assignment and status record who is working on a ticket and how far along it is. Both can be changed at any time.
Assign
Right in the ticket header, like status and priority: click the assignment (or unassigned), tick one or more people and close the menu. The change is saved when the menu closes, and the people are notified. The menu lists everyone who may read the project's tickets.
Or through the form:
- Open a ticket and click Edit.
- Under Assigned users, pick one or more people — multiple assignees are possible.
- Save. The assigned people are notified automatically.
The ticket's creator also stays informed about changes without being assigned.
Follow a ticket without being assigned
Want to stay in the loop on a ticket without being responsible for it? Use the bell icon in the ticket header to enable notifications and follow the ticket without being assigned. From then on, every activity — comments, status changes, new documents — lands in your Inbox.
Followers don't appear in the assignee list but in the Notified: list in the ticket header. Anyone who can read the ticket sees that list — each entry with its source (Creator, Assigned, Watching, Added by …). So following is not hidden: anyone who can see the ticket can also see that you follow it.
Change status
For many tickets at once: Changing several tickets at once.
Status is a ticket field with fixed options (e.g. open, in progress, done). You can change it three ways:
- directly in the ticket header via the status field,
- while commenting via Set status — documenting progress and the change in one step,
- by drag-and-drop in the board view (see Configuring the view).
You define which status and priority options exist yourself — see Custom fields & tags.
