Overview

Lalabase is a platform for project and knowledge work that you can run entirely on your own infrastructure. This documentation is for teams who want to self-host Lalabase — with full control over their data and operations.

What self-hosting means

Self-hosting means running every component of Lalabase on servers you own. A typical installation consists of these services:

  • The Rails application (web + API)
  • A PostgreSQL database with the vector extension for AI features
  • Solid Queue for background jobs
  • Redis as a cache

How this documentation is organized

The docs are split into four areas:

  1. Getting started — overview and system requirements
  2. Installation — Docker Compose and server setup
  3. Configuration — environment variables, email, AI keys
  4. Operations — backups, updates, and monitoring
Tip

If you just want to try it out, start with Docker Compose — you'll have an instance running in minutes.
