MCP in Lalabase

Lalabase has its own MCP server. With it, an AI agent such as Claude Code works directly with your projects: it reads tickets and your inbox, finds knowledge, uses code context, creates tickets, comments, changes status, assignees and title, and books time. Nothing has to be copied from the browser into the editor.

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol, an open standard that lets AI tools reach external systems. Lalabase hands the agent a list of tools, and the agent calls them when it needs them. You keep writing what you want in plain language.

How to start

  1. Create a token, read-only at first.
  2. Connect Claude Code or another client.
  3. Ask the agent: "Which Lalabase projects can you reach?"

What an agent can do

Area Read Write
Tickets lists, search, a ticket with comments and attachments create, comment, change status, assignees and title
Inbox and time unread notifications of all organisations, booked time mark a notification as read, book time
Knowledge and code find notes and documents, project vision, capabilities, code symbols nothing
People and organisations people directory, organisations, projects nothing

All 19 tools are in the overview. An agent cannot delete anything over MCP, and it cannot change an existing comment.

What you decide

The token decides how far an agent gets. It is read-only by default, lasts 90 days at most and never reaches further than your own rights. More under rights and safety.

Which way for what

Way For Writes to Lalabase
Assistant in Lalabase questions in the app, with your organisation's AI settings not by itself
Agent over MCP work from the editor or terminal, with the agent of your choice yes, with a token that may write
REST API your own scripts and integrations yes, with a token that may write
CLI tool tickets in the terminal, starting Claude Code on a ticket with one key yes, with a token that may write

All three ways from outside use the same token and the same rights. The agent brings its own model, so MCP works without Lalabase's AI features too. Only the code tools need them, since reading in a repository runs on your organisation's AI.
