# Saved filters

A filter you need often doesn't have to be rebuilt every time. Save it as a **view**
(a smart folder underneath) and bring it back through its tab.

## Filtering

Above the ticket list, **+ Filter** narrows the list down by status, assignment, tags,
creator, date, due date, or custom fields. Each condition sits as a pill under the tabs; the
small word between the values says how they are joined (*or*, *and*, *not*). A click on the
pill opens its values; you tick them on and off there, and unticking is how a value goes
away. The layer stays open while you do it, so you can pick several values in a row; it
closes on the cross in its top right corner, on Escape, or on a click beside it. The search
sits to the right; the search depth decides whether only titles, titles and content, or
everything is searched.

## Save as a view

1. Set the conditions you want.
2. A row appears under the conditions with **Save as a view**. Give it a name (e.g.
   *Open bugs*).
3. The view then appears as a **tab** above the list, next to **All tickets**. The tab with
the line underneath is the active one.

A date such as *today*, *this week* or *overdue* stays alive in the saved view: next week the
view still means the week that is then running. In the expert filter the same condition is an
operator, for example *is this week*, with no date next to it.

## Changing a view

When you change a condition on a saved view, its tab gets a small dot, and the row under the
conditions says what differs (for example *"in progress" was removed.*). There you decide:
**Save change**, save **As a new view**, or **Discard**. Discard asks nothing; a condition is
two clicks away.

Switching to another tab with an open change discards it; the message at the top offers
**Undo** for a few seconds, which brings tab and conditions back.

## The menu at the tab

The active tab carries a small arrow on its right. Behind it is everything you can do with the
view itself: **Rename** (right there in place), **Share…**, **Open in the expert filter…** and,
under a divider, **Delete view**. Delete asks once, because it cannot be undone. What you are
not allowed to do is not in the menu; on **All tickets** it holds only the expert filter, since
there is nothing to rename or delete there.

In the expert filter you build finer rules: combined with AND within a group, with OR across
groups. A view with such rules shows them in the bar read-only; they are changed in the expert
filter. Every saved view also carries its own column choice. A view holds at most 50 rule
groups with at most 50 rules each. Only the person who created it, or an admin, can make it
public; someone it is shared with for editing changes its rules and name.
