# Using global search

Global search finds content across all your projects in one place — no need to open the
right project first.

## Opening search

1. Click **Search** in the sidebar — or press **⌘K** (Windows/Linux: **Ctrl+K**).
2. A search box opens above the page.
3. Type your query and confirm with Enter.
4. Press **Escape** to close it again.

Need search all the time? Use the pin icon to dock it as a permanent bar in the sidebar.

## What gets searched

Search covers your organisation's **tickets**, **notes**, **documents**, **comments** and
**project documentation**. Each result shows its type and the project it belongs to. Use the
**All projects** selector to limit the search to a single project.

You only ever see content from areas you are allowed to access — documentation, for
instance, only from projects where you have documentation read access.

## Full text and meaning

Beyond classic full-text search for exact words, search also understands the **meaning** of
your query when AI is enabled — such a hit is marked as a *Semantic match*. If AI is not
enabled for your organisation, Lalabase still searches reliably across the full text.

<div class="docs-callout docs-callout--tip">
  <div class="docs-callout__title">Tip</div>
  <p>Type full questions instead of single keywords — semantic search also finds content that uses different words than you do.</p>
</div>

Whatever you find here you can work on right away — for example in the
[project dashboard](https://lalabase.com/docs/en/guides/dashboards/project-dashboard).
